A Journey of Sustainability at Verde Cocina
A Journey of Sustainability at Verde Cocina
Preserving History at Sylvan Highlands
As we embrace the spirit of Earth Day this April 22nd, we are excited to share a bit more about the rebuild at our Sylvan-Highlands location, where sustainability meets history in a harmonious blend.
During the rebuild of Verde Cocina at Sylvan-Highlands, we've been able to reuse lumber and beams from the old building, helping to minimize waste and environmental impact while creating a new space that includes some of the bones that once lived in the structure before it.
One of the more remarkable aspects of the Sylvan-Highlands rebuild is the incorporation of salvaged historic bricks that come with a rich and meaningful story. We were able to save bricks that were part of the original building, which actually started as a brick-making facility, then transformed into a home, and later became a restaurant before Verde Cocina took it over. By reusing these bricks, we are not only preserving a piece of history but also weaving it into the fabric of our future Verde Cocina building. It's a testament to our commitment to sustainability and honoring the heritage of this place we will soon gather and call home again.
New Cocktail Menu at Verde Cocina
This month, we're excited to release our new cocktail menu, which includes all new specialty cocktails and mocktails. The new cocktail menu will be released later this month at TBD date, but in the meantime, check out a couple of our favorites.
Mariposa Monarca: A tribute to the monarch butterfly migration in Mexico. Crafted with Uruapan Mexican rum, strawberry-infused Campari, lime and mango juice, and a touch of pineapple syrup, this cocktail is fruity and vibrant.
Chavela: A unique twist on the classic Mai Tai. Featuring local Metolius Artisan Chai Tea, blended seamlessly with Plantation pineapple rum, reposado tequila, Narano orange liqueur, and a splash of lime.
Anne's Lemonade (non-alcoholic): Named after one of our co-owners and her passion for Metolius' teas and lavender, Anne's Lemonade features Gin Free, Metolius lavender syrup, freshly squeezed lemon, and a splash of soda.
A La Temporada (non-alcoholic): Cheers to seasonal goodness with our A La Temporada mocktail. Crafted with Orange Spirit Free, seasonal fruit, Metolius vanilla syrup, and a hint of lemon. Ask one of our bartenders for the current seasonal fruit flavor.
As we continue work on the new Sylvan-Highlands restaurant and release our new cocktail menu, we invite you to join us in celebrating Earth Day and our sustainability journey at our La Perla and Hillsdale locations. Together, we can make a positive impact on our environment while enjoying delicious meals crafted with care and consciousness.
Thank you for being part of la familia at Verde Cocina and supporting our mission to create a greener and more sustainable future.
Sincerely,
Noé & Anne Garnica
